    Know your Tea better

    What is the shelf life of products?

    This Vahdam Tea has a shelf-life of 2 years from the Date of Picking/Harvest. The 'Date of Expiry' are mentioned on the bottom of all our boxes.

    Where are your Teas from?

    We source our teas from over 150 renowned plantations and small individual farms in India. Within the country, we procure from 5 popular tea-producing regions, namely: Darjeeling, Assam, Nilgiri, Kangra, and Sikkim.

    How are the Teas packaged?

    After sourcing our teas directly from plantations within hours of harvest, we bring them to our state-of-the-art tea facility in New Delhi, India. The teas then go through rigorous rounds of cleaning, sorting, quality testing to remove any impurities/dust/foreign particles. Post 10+ quality checkpoints for leaf size, aroma, liquor, flavors etc. these are vacuum-packaged in opaque aluminum-lined bags using sophisticated machinery. These vacuum-bags are then stored in a dehumidified, temperature-controlled warehouse which ensures that the teas remain garden-fresh and maintain their character. Further, required quantities are packed in smaller vacuum-sealed packs which are boxed in the retail boxes and then sent over to our own delivery centers located in various parts of the world.

    An amazing wind-down for my day

    I wasn't used to herbal teas that steeped for less than 5min but I followed the directions here, 1 heaping teaspoon, 8oz/3min just below boiling, and it's a super powerful camomile flavor. Supposedly there's green tea in here but I certainly can't tell! ;-) I don't consider that a bad thing.

    For those worried about caffeine content, this doesn't register. I drink it right before bed and have zero problems falling asleep. I get 2 solid steeps at 3min and 8min provides a noticeably weaker but still solid cup.

    I'm used to what would essentially be CTC, but there are solid flower heads of dried chamomile in this mix. It smells sweet and floral when you open the package. This will last me for awhile! :-)

    I really feel I need to point out that Dorothy's review below is incorrect in my experience.
    I ordered a 200g quantity from Amazon. I received 2x100g boxes.

    Granted, I was expecting a pouch (from the photo used on Amazon, though the box is shown on here) but upon opening said box, I found a sealed bag of tea and a separate resealable pouch and sticker.
    Presumably this two step packaging system is to maintain freshness/quality, or perhaps it is to give people option in terms of storage or maybe so they are easier to wrap as a gift? I don't know, but it's hardly a 'rip off'.

    Regardless, I do know that you simply decant the tea from the sealed bag into the resealable pouch and put the sticker on the bag so you know which tea it is.
    The seal seems to be decent and strong, so I expect it to work well throughout it's use.

    I assume the 100g quantities is to maintain freshness and quality, as 100g is supposed to make 50 cups of tea. This can only be a good thing in my view.

    If Dorothy paid for 200g and received 200g, with the option of pouches to use; I'm just at a loss as to how she felt 'ripped off'...
